Surprisingly effectiveOct 15, 2009

I leave this little 4 Lb. powerhouse laying around the house and just pick it up while I am walking from here to there. I got a great DVD, Pilates Power Ball Sculpt on Amazon and used it. I have now seen a squishy ball which would probably be a little more comfortable for exercises that require you to hold the ball between the knees during Pilates sessions but it works great for everything else.
The ball has a surface similar to a basketball or foursquare ball and is relatively solid so it doesn't give much. The adjustable velcro strap handle is a real plus and is removable with an included Allen wrench, but the fittings would still be sticking out slightly on the sides. During use, it feels like the handle creates some different small muscle involvement without the hand needing to hang on like a dumb bell. It's just one more tool in a fitness arsenal and I like it.
