The full size and travel size Verilux CleanWave wands (i have and use both) work perfectly. i ordered one of these thinking it would be good to have a pocket sized one.
The first one the merchant sent out "worked" (the uv bulb would light) but it refused to hold a "charge" for more than a few minutes at a time. The merchant promptly replaced it with another which would not even illuminate at all; both units were dysfunctional.
The merchant was exceptional in working with me and my experience with other products from this manufacturer has been very good. This particular product was in my own experience little more than junk. it would appear that there is a very good reason this unit was discontinued.
if you are looking for a UV sanitizing wand, i can highly recommend the other Verilux models (full size and travel size)... we use the full size one daily and the travel size one is kept in the baby's diaper bag... neither has ever failed to operate when and where needed.

I was completely dissatisfied with this product. Please do not get me wrong, I realize that things can be damaged through the mail on shipping. However, this is the first time that I have ever been so frustrated with a company. After receiving the wand in the mail it was rattling, but a note in the box told me to disregard this sound. So I proceeded to charge it for the required amount of time before use. The thing would not turn on when taken off the charger. I am not sure how something can be considered cordless when you cannot unplug it! I then contacted the company to find out what they could do for me and instead of help I was given the following:
"We stopped making the product 5 years ago. We will not replace it and certainly will not be refunding your money."
Well great, now I am not only out the amount I paid for this thing, but on top of it I have a POS that does not work. Fabulous idea, but I would discourage anyone from purchasing this at risk of you getting completely disappointed upon its arrival!

My wife and I have been traveling with this sanitizer for more than a year. If we come across something we're not certain is as clean as it should be and there's no getting around using it, we give it a little UV `tan". There's no "gold test" to assure we're doing any good. We routinely travel to the tropics and have yet to get Montezuma's Revenge.Take that for what it worth.

OK item, though feels like it would shatter if dropped on the floor; lightweight and a bit flimsy feeling. Can't tell you if it's sterilized the surfaces I used it on, or not.
