4Sturdy lightweight transport chairMay 09, 2007
By Vanessa Z. Mills
This chair is very well built yet also is very light. I can easily lift it into the trunk of my car. The standard wheelchair that my mom used to use was always very difficult for me to lift.

The chair is also compact when open which makes for much easier maneuvering in public areas. The pocket on the back of the seat is convenient for putting my mom's parking pass in. It also velcros closed so I don't have to worry about anything falling out.

When folded, the chair is compact. You have the option of folding the feet into the sides and folding the handles down which makes it even tinier. Easy to store in my mother's little closet.

The brakes are a little inconvenient to use as you have to bend all the way down. Also, one of the brakes wasn't tightened as much as it could be. The tools they included with the chair don't fit the brakes' bolts so I have to use an allen wrench from my own toolset.

Overall, though, an excellent chair at an excellent price.

5Just right!Oct 20, 2006

This chair is light, easy to collapse and open. Perfect for taking my elderly mom out and about to the mall and restaurants. It fits nicely up to a table for dining. Could not be happier with the transport chair.

4Drive Transport ChairNov 09, 2006
By M. Robolino
This chair is sturdy and well-built. It is very lightweight and easy to fold and put into the car. One improvement that could be made on this chair is the brake handles. They are hard on the hands because they are so thin. Overall it is a wonderful chair and a great help in transporting patients.

5good quality lightweight chairFeb 26, 2008
By Joseph Conrad
Bought this a few months ago, it's in daily use. Quality of construction is good, and we have had no problems apart from having to adjust the brakes once or twice. It's much easier to get in and out of the car trunk than the steel chair that preceded it.

5Great narrow seat alternative.Feb 23, 2009
By Flannel Pajamas
I actually bought this wheelchair and brought it over with me to Hong Kong for my 90-year-old mother. It is extremely light and well made. It is the second lightest transporter wheelchair out there. It's so easy to collapse and open. I particularly liked that fact that it is 17" wide rather than the standard 19". My mother is very thin so this was fine. I just thought it's hard enough to get through doorways as it is, the narrower (if the person can fit in it) the better. DO take that into consideration! The only other transporter that is lighter than this one is made from Medline, called the featherlite transporter (or something like that) at under 15lbs...but it is 19" wide. This wheelchair is 19 lbs and it still felt really light to me. I'm only 5'3" tall, and I had no trouble pushing my mom around.

I bought this chair along with a cushion. DO get a cushion because transporter chairs don't have much support for the tushie. The other thing to be aware of are the foot rest. They do flop around once you fold up the chair. I recommend getting a small zippered nylon tote bag that is small enough to hold the foot rest and store in the back chair's pocket when not in use. The foot rests are very easy to remove. But they can fall out when not in use. So get a small carrying bag for them.

The nylon fabric is sturdy and well-made. The only thing that I wished it had was a lock latch for the foot rest when not in use, and maybe a carrying bag to stuff it in for transport...but that's pretty minor.
