4ok, but heavy on batteriesJan 06, 2007

I have bought TrackStick to use for it Google maps. Although the description says it can directly export to Google maps, it actually can't. It only exports CSV (comma separated file) that could be further processed by some external program (does not exist yet).

Trackstick takes quite long to map itself after turning on (15+ minutes ), so it unsuitable for short trips. It however works for longer trips. It does not work inside buildings or under any roof/lots of trees/between high buildings.

It is nice device for tracking your position, but if you need it for short trips, unusable.

5TrackStick logs my carrier routesMar 08, 2007
By TPMorton
I use the TrackStick to define existing newspaper carrier routes. All I have to do is place the TrackStick on the dash of a carrier's car at the beginning of a route and pick it up at the end of the route. The rest is nearly automatic as a route is outlined on a map and a written description of the route is created (in Microsoft Streets & Trips).

Very easy, very efficient. Good value for my use.

5Yes, it does work anywhereSep 15, 2008
By Albert K.
Actually I found Trackstick to work pretty well in Europe, albeit messing with the software settings a little. It's not as difficult as it first looks, as with most new programs. The first time I used Trackstick the red map routes it created were a little jumpy, but I quickly learned that it was my fault for not giving it time to connect to the satellites. Just set it outside facing the sky for a minute or so until the light turns green and after that you're pretty much good to go anywhere. I had this on the train from Zurich to Paris last year and even through the snow and some shorter tunnels it got a pretty accurate recording. Just bought a new one after losing my other. It's definitely a good way to show off your vacation to people. I just love seeing all the squiggly lines going throughout the maps.

Trackstick doesn't seem as power heavy to me than some of the other reviews on here. Mine were able to last (with constant daily recording on the trains) for more than a few days with any given set of batteries, keeping in mind that it was CONSTANTLY on. Of course since then I've upgraded to the Super so the battery life goes a little longer because of the vibration detector, and must agree with the recommendation for rechargeables, which is mostly a common sense thing if you plan on using this a lot.

Also one of the nicest manuals I've seen for a product like this or any other. Quite graphical and easy to navigate.

4Discreet, and sticks to the car! Great for many uses.Mar 30, 2011

My husband and I got this to keep a tab on our son and the car we just bought him (he's had a very distrustful history). Well, our doubts were quelled. After we found out nothing weird was going on, we removed the Trackstick and now just use it for documenting our road trips. It's kind of fun to pair up the map files with our photos and see all the geography of the roads less travelled. My only complaint was that the computer program isn't as user friendly as some other things like my iPod, so my husband usually has to do all the tech-work.

5What a cool little gadgetMar 04, 2011
By Tammy L.
The Trackstick is easy to use, great software and the Google Earth maps are very helpful.

My husband and I go on long trips and enjoy downloading the tracks and sharing them on Facebook with our family and friends. There is no better way to share your photos than being able to see them on a map of where you took them.

Great tool.
Tech support was very helpful and timely in their email responses.
Easy to use.
Fast to get started.

I'll be using Trackstick for a while.
