 good nature sounds, not much "white" noiseMay 29, 2009

This sound card has a lot of really nice sounds, I'd like them a lot for relaxing with a nice background ambience, but I use my Sound Oasis machine to mask household noise (TV, traffic, etc) when I am trying to fall asleep and most of the sounds aren't steady enough for that. The waterfall is great for that but the rest of the sounds have quiet spots that allow outside noise to be disturbing. And I have to say, the windstorm is a very eerie and disturbing sound, not relaxing at all and the thunderstorm upsets my dog. All of the rest of the nature sounds are very pleasant, the forest rain is soothing, the surf sounds are also, I love the crickets and the frogs but they are just not good enough as white noise for me.

My wife suffers from tinnitus and I got it for her. However, I am using it more than she. I actually reviewed this product instead of the optional chip for Ear Therapy. That review actually is for the sound producing device, not the chip. The chip has not yet been used for the intended purpose.

I own a couple of different Sound Oasis products and sound cards. The sound quality is amazing. Many nights I have had a restful sleep. Also, the sounds will assist in relaxation after a stressful day, or just having as background sound to enjoy your favorite hobby, or to read a book. The great option with this card (as with the other cards) is there are 12 sounds to choose from. Sound Oasis has many options to choose and having the different sound cards makes the system more expansive. This is a great card to add to your collection. I highly recommend this.

I normally purchase a radio with forest sounds or rain sounds to help myself sleep. It is more for the purpose of blocking out the noises of the city than anything. It helps me fall asleep. The Sound Oasis card I purchased gave me more than I thought I purchased it for. It helps my wife and I sleep way deeper. We wake up fewer times, and when we do, we feel like we've slept better than we used to.
