Awesome for pampering, especially on a wintery day...Jan 17, 2009
By Pooh Mama This is a review for the Artemis Woman Shea Butter Paraffin Spa. Purchasing this was my first experience with a paraffin treatment. Winter has been very harsh on my hands (they're like sandpaper), but with a treatment once in a while (when ever I have some down time) it makes my hands soft, smooth, warm and comforted. I have been freezing so it's not too hot for me.
The unit is very simple with just an on-off dial and purple plastic cover. The opening is 9" by 6.5" so I think it's just meant for hands and elbows. The set came with 20 liners, hand mitts and 3 lbs. of shea butter paraffin wax. You just break the wax in pieces for it to melt - takes around 90 minutes.
I dip my washed and dried hands into the wax 3 times, cover with the plastic liner (I reuse them) and slip my hands in the mitts. I leave it on for about 20 minutes and just relax. I love the smell of the lavendar coming through the mitts - very soothing and relaxing.
Although they recommend tossing the wax after peeling it off, I reuse it. I tossed the wax the first time and it seemed like such a waste. I'm the only one who uses it and my hands are clean when I start the process.
I really enjoy this paraffin treatment! It's not essential to have, but such a nice little treat when I have the time. Definitely a luxury for me, but worth it! (It may be snowing again, so I may be using it several times this weekend.)

Love it!May 15, 2009
By Literary Mama Bought this over a year ago. I use it several times a week in the winter. Makes my hands so soft! I used it on my feet last winter and it does miracles! The only problem is that I keep it on in the winter and my cleaning lady moved it too quickly and spilled wax everywhere. If you choose to leave it on, which I do in the winter months, put a "Do Not TOUCH" sign somewhere.

By grafton lady I purchased this product to help with my mother's arthritis pain in her hands. She said the warmth does ease the pain and she has no difficulty using the spa.

By Fairyflyze I had one like this so I bought one for my Mom. She loves it! Softens up hands, heels and elbows. The lavender is a nice aromatherapy touch. Really nice in winter!

Works Great Until It DiesDec 27, 2010
By B. Allen This worked really good until it died completely. The inner container that holds the wax slowly leaks until the the entire inner workings are full of wax and short out. It also leaked wax onto the counter.
Great idea, fatally flawed implementation.
If it didn't leak and stop working I would have given it 5 stars. My wife really liked using it for her dried / cracking hands.
