Warning: These insoles are VERY thick. The insoles took up so much room in my boot, my foot no longer fit in the boot. Unless your shoes/boots are really loose fitting you might want to get the regular insoles that don't have the extra cushion. And because they are cut-to-fit, I can't return them.

The Toasty Feet folks make several different varieties of these orange space-age inserts, but Amazon doesn't seem to carry them all. The particular ones I purchased from another retailer are "Toasty Feet Arch Support Insoles (For Men)". It happens my feet are pretty good sized female ones and I generally purchase men's orthotics because the arch tends to be in the right place for me. In this case, the arch supports provided are fat little nubby things to be attached underneath via velcro and are pretty much useless because they are shaped like rocks instead of smooth supports. The velcro attachment strip provides just a tiny bit of arch comfort but to fashion something appropriate to attach there seems like 'way more trouble than I should have to go to. These are being used in some great Staheekum sheepskin boots (like Uggs) that are delightfully warm above but a bit lacking in thickness of sole, so they are cold underneath on a concrete floor. As soon as I did the necessary size modification, which involved an easy trim with scissors, and inserted them, my feet felt warmer. So I would say that they do work. I think it is a bit tricky to buy these by Internet because you need to know the thickness of an insert in order to know whether it will fit in your particular footwear without making it uncomfortably small for your feet, particularly in the toe area. I measured mine at the cut area, and they are just under 1/4", or 6mm thick. That's rather thick to work in some situations. If that's a problem, take a look at Pedag 145 Solar Insulating Insole with 3 Layer Thermal Shield, which I have not yet bought but found upon research.
