This reliable watch is a great valueMay 26, 2007

I bought this watch a couple years ago and I'm still very happy with it. I do not like wearing wrist watches, so the clip is ideal. As for the various functions (compass, temperature, altitude, etc.), they have all worked great. The temperature readings are correct if you place the watch away from your body heat and give it enough time to equilibrate. The compass works well too for quick readings (and you can regain compass mode as many times as you like if the display is not long enough for you). Like any multiple-function watches, it has issues, but compared to the Suunto watches that I have owned, this one is a much better value for the price.

could be betterJan 12, 2006
By G. B. Talovich I got tired of wearing a wristwatch, but still need to know the time, so this is a good idea. I bought the product as soon as it came out, so I have used mine for over two years now. I was attracted by the altimeter, but have found that it is wildly unreliable: either that or my desk is going up and down berserkly. My desk is at an altitude of about 270 meters, but I get readings everywhere from 240 meters to 350 meters. I wrote to the company asking about it, and their reply boiled down to: "Live with it." Also, the thermometer is usually very slow to react to big temperature changes. It is very good for slight variations in places like a closed room, but if you go from indoors to outdoors, plan on waiting half an hour to learn the outdoor temperature. The `current weather' display is always good for a laugh.
Overall, I enjoy this, but I hope their next model is better.
PS: shortly after I wrote this review, the clip broke, and had to be replaced for twenty bucks. May 2006.

A really nice watchApr 02, 2010
By D. Barfonchovski This is a really good watch for its money. I really like the fact that you don't need to wear it on your wrist because altimeter watches are quite chunky and feel awkward on the hand. With this one you can just clip it somewhere on your gear (or even the belt loops on your trousers). It's fun and easy to work with. One thing that bothers me is that the thermometer seems a bit inaccurate - looks like it's being affected by body heat even though its positioned somewhat away from the body (I usually wear it on the shoulder straps of my backpack). Otherwise the thermometer reacts with pretty decent speed to temperature changes.

Better than expectedMay 29, 2008

After reading other customer reviews I opted not to purchase the Altitech-2. Then I decided to give it a try and send it back if it didn't work. Mine has worked well--barometer, thermometer--everything! Glad I got it, especially at $97!
Great for motorcycle tripsMay 19, 2011
By T.Johnson I bought this to hang on my jacket zipper while riding on the back of a motorcycle. It was great. I was able to check the temperature and elevation while riding. The numbers are large which makes it very easy to read. I checked the altitude against my husbands GPS and it is quite accurate.
