Great all in one unit for hikingJun 29, 2011
By M. Costello I am hiking the entire length of the Appalachian Trail this year. Although I didn't start out with this unit I wish I had. I quickly learned I needed something to help me know the temperature, time altitude etc. in a all in one, easy to read, navigate and recalibrate unit The alarm is also a great addition and I use it everyday to remind me it's lunch time. Some hikers prefer the wrist version but not me, I wear sweat bands on my wrists so this would be in the way there. I prefer this unit and I hang it right in front of me on my pack for easy access. To me it's a must have on the trail for now on. I highly recommend this item.

Really handy little altimeterDec 28, 2011
By A guy with opinions I love this thing. Before I got this thing reading a map while backpacking/hiking up a mountain was a lot of guess work, this thing has opened my eyes to the joys of navigating by altimeter. It seems like a common question while hiking in the mountains is "how close are we to the top?". Previously to really answer this question for me meant pulling out the map and staring at it for a bit, now I just need to glance at the altimeter to tell me how far I am from the top. I can also attest that this thing has proved water proof enough while hiking through some rain, though I wouldn't try submerging it. Great unit with lots of features, light, water proof. Very happy with purchase. PS. Remember to calibrate the altimeter at the trail head.

Failed FIRST Day!Aug 17, 2011
By Steve Williams I purchased this product for my Grand Canyon Raft Trip. It was Dead upon arrival - finally got hold of technician and he said that very often the batteries come dead and to replace it. I did. I took on the trip to use for barometer readings and its many advertised features. It failed the SECOND DAY! My $10 backup did awesome. I then just went to return it having just returned and their return policy is ONLY 30 days. No wonder. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
