Description:

Traction Mat Heated Floor Mat is designed to act as an entrance mat. This heated floor mat is built with non-slip, UV protected rubber, and is designed to be left out for the entire winter season. This non-slip mat is madeup of an electrically operated heating element sandwiched between two protective surfaces of non-slip rubber, making them as durable as automobile tires and allowing them to endure harsh wear. These entrance mats plug directly into any standard 120V or 240V outlet using its own equipment leakage circuit interrupter(ELCI). Traction Mat eliminates snow and ice accumulation around the facility.Portable, designed to lie on top of existing surfaces. Place a traction mat over existing entranceways, stairs, loading docks, handicap ramps, rooftops, and many other surfaces, to provide a clean and safe passageway for foot or wheelchair access. Heated mats are a better solution for slip prevention. These rubber floor mats continuously melt snow and ice keeping surfaces constantly clear and safe. In addition, the non-slip mats are designed with a continuous chevron pattern to provide extra traction. The traction mats are a better alternative than calcium chloride. Salted entranceways leads to messy floors indoors as calcium chloride gets tracked inside by foot traffic. In addition, heated outdoor mats help preserve sidewalks, as calcium chloride will eat away at walkways over time.Product specifications: Surface Thickness: 1/4", Chevron Height: 1/8", Material: Reinforced UV stabilized natural rubber. 5nice luxury for bad winter weatherMar 03, 2010
By SeeWeed
We bought this item for our steep driveway, so that we can cut down on heavy shoveling during large snowstorms. It is enough to melt the snow to allow one side of your car tires to roll over and gain enough traction to get up the hill. The heat is barely noticeable. If you place a ball of snow on it it will not melt instantly but rather over 10-20 minutes. We keep this outdoors all winter and it is very sturdy. It is also very heavy to pull out from storage. If you are a petite person you will need another person to help you carry this out to the walk. For this winter we used it in front of our house to clear a walkway from the street to the front door. Melts snow perfectly and even dries a rim of concrete all around it. No more slipping on ice or slushing through snow!

5Heat matFeb 14, 2010
By Jose E. Bezares
We bought this heat mat for a 20-foot ramp we have that is at a slope of about twice what is federally required if you need it for handicapped access--which, fortunately, we do not. Our ramp has a peculiar problem in that it is immediately below a gutter, which overflows and in the winter thaws, drips, ices, thaws, drips...then freezes directly on our ramp. This heat mat has solved our problem completely. It looks and feels like it's made of hard rubber with wavy grooves. We've only used it for the past couple of months, so we can't speak to long-term reliability and wear-and-tear. But for as long as we have had it, it is reliable and works well. The grip is good underfoot, the current is just enough to melt snow and ice but not too high, it's super easy to turn on and off, and we are very happy with it. The cord is about 6 feet (I think), If you have a nearby outdoor outlet you'll be set. If not, you might have to get an extension cord. If you do, try to make it only long enough to reach an outdoor outlet, but not much longer or you'll have to roll it up and keep it out of the way. Make sure you cover the outlet/plug and any connections with any extension cords. Judging by our experience, we would recommend this without reservation. By the way, the price from Amazon beat the price from Home Depot and everywhere else!

1Unsafe and self destructiveNov 01, 2011
By C4C
Years ago I had numerous HeatTrak units of varying sizes, and these units worked for years until the rubber dry rotted and cracked into pieces. The units were one piece molded units with the carpet molded right into the rubber pad.

So when it came time to replace my ancient HeatTraks I order a few new units. But the design had completely changed. The main rubber pad was now very thin and the carpet was molded to a separate thin sheet of rubber which was then GLUED to the main heated pad. Within days the carpet sheet was de-laminating and peeling up from the main pad.

So I returned the units and did without for a winter or two. So this year I bought two new units from HeatTrak. The design seemed much improved with a removable cord, nice GFCI plug, although the power light is barely visible, and an improve manufacturing process.

But then I plugged one of the units in and things went downhill quickly. The units has no temperature sensing, so they are always heating regardless of outside temperatures. After the first night I notice a small shiny spot where some carpet was missing in a 3" line, so I thought maybe a squirrel had chewed on the carpet. That is until I touched the area and it was so hot the melted rubber burned and stuck to my finger. I unplugged the unit and went out of town for the weekend, and when I got back my mat was completely destroyed! I could smell the melted rubber from 60' away as soon as I got out of my car. A friend had plugged the unit back in and the mat had completely melted 50% of the carpet, which now looked like molted pools of shiny rubber. The unit was still heating and was so hot you could not touch it. My dog had walked on the mat and his feet and fur were covered in molten rubber and his fur was all over the HeatTrak. That had to hurt! I had to shave him to get the rubber off. I couldn't believe the unit could produce enough heat to actually self destruct without blowing the GFCI. I picked the unit up and it has the consistency of an overcooked spaghetti noodle.

I thought perhaps it was a fluke, a single bad product. So I plugged my other HeatTrak pad in and this time I protected the area with chicken wire so my friends, dog and other animals could not get near it. And in just a day or two I started seeing melted lines, following the internal heating elements. Within two weeks I had two useless HeatTraks. When I took them back to the store, the store clerk took one look at my melted, dog hair encrusted HeatTrak, and said that I abused the pads and therefore they would not provide a refund or exchange.

So now I am out a couple of hundred bucks, and have but hope that potential customers read my warnings and heed them. For the sake of your dog and your family don't buy a HeatTrak, they are unsafe by every definition of the word.

5I love my HeatTrak!Feb 01, 2012
By Marsha Ward "Writer in the Pines"
I recently moved into a home that has a wooden wheelchair ramp up from the parking area to a covered deck. When an early freeze hit and I nearly fell due to the slippery ice that had formed on the ramp, I knew I needed something to keep it clear of snow and ice in the coming months.

An Internet search led me to the HeatTrak heated walkway mat. I bought a 24-inch wide, 10-foot long mat, and it was delivered a day before the first big snowstorm came. Perfect timing!

I love this product! I've had good results and a clear ramp since I put it in place. We've had several storms, and the only time I had ice or snow in my path was the one time I neglected to plug the HeatTrak in as the snow began to fall.

4Walkway mats for safe walking surfaces during snow and ice conditions.Jan 01, 2012
By Charles B
My wife and I recently changed our sidewalk to a concrete ramp style and found the HeatTrak Heated Walkway Mats to be ideal for keeping the surfaces clear and safe during winter months. The walking surface is rough textured and adds additional traction during all conditions. Hookup and setup was a snap. You must have the controller for this product.

Yes, I would buy this product again and plan to add additional mats in the near future.

I would like to see this mat in a wider model better suited to handicapped applications.
