A humbling but worth while purchase.Aug 24, 2010

I wanted the Trainer 1, but came across the Trainer 2 for half off used...I have been swimming for a long time and consider myself pretty at home in the water, but this thing made me feel like a complete beginner. The learning curve is not that bad, and after 3 pool sessions My form and movement improved. After about 12 pool visits I am really feeling progress. Paired with the Finis center mounted snorkel you can really move fast with a killer workout to boot. On Sizing, while you want to have them snug, I can not agree with the Medium being for a size 8. I am a measured size 8 and the Large is snug. The trouble with the product is finding a physical location to try them on for size. One other thing...the edges of the fin are seriously sharp, be extremely careful when using in a shared lane or around anyone...it is definitely best used in a lap lane in deeper water.
I'll update as time moves on.
But would I buy them again, ABSOLUTELY!

Water FunJul 04, 2010

I have been using the monofin for over a year. It has been great fun !
In addition to obviously working your core and thighs, the fin puts plenty of torque on your ankles (mine were sore for a few days after my first few uses), which will help stretch them out and make them more flexible.
The fin has held up well, with only a few scratches to show it's use. I have used it in both the pool and the ocean.
My pool sessions are usually at the end of my swim workout. I start with some underwater sprints, then "warm down" with underwater distance swims-trying to go further and further underwater on just one breath (this is best done when the pool is set up "long course" or 50m, otherwise you are doing turns often).
In the ocean I have mostly done breath hold free dives of increasing depths (down to about 100 feet). I did also run across and play with some spinner dolphins one day....a very neat encounter, since with the monofin on, I moved like they did !!

Finis trainer 2 monofinJan 13, 2011
By Haluam Has great functionality and performance, definitely improves many aspects of swimming in beginners and fun to play with for advanced swimmers looking for a fun change of pace and supplement to workouts. Extremely effecient for the speed obtained while using. Big issue is foot sizing, should buy at least 2 sizes larger then size in regular dive fins. Biggest problem is with fins with enclosed toes, as they create uncomfortable rubbing without dive socks which can limit the duration of workout and time in water. Much more ergonomic and maneuverable with turning in lap lanes then other fins, but must be VERY aware of other swimmer in the water as the blade is VERY sharp. Also is great for improving ankle/foot flexibly, the effects of which are apparent after a relatively short time in the water. Great training tool and excellent fin for speed/distance with beginners and experienced swimmers alike.
