Description:

The Emagine Tweezer-Head Epilator from Emjoi is a groundbreaking hair remover that features 72 tweezer heads. It's faster, safer and more beneficial than shaving or waxing. The revolutionary Emagine Tweezer-Head Epilator removes hair quickly and comfortably and reduces the number of passes required to achieve the chief benefit of epilation: smooth, silky, touchable skin. Emjoi's patented Glide Technology reduces irritation. Coupled with Emjoi's innovation of one fixed-tweezer disc and two that open and close, the skin gets gently stretched, to increase comfort and efficiently remove hair. Emagine is the world's first epilator to offer Silver Ion Technology, which provides antimicrobial protection from bacterial infections. Its innovative, dual-opposed staggered heads are a new feature for an epilator; they enable the unit to cover greater surface area than ever before while grasping and removing more hair in a single pass. To reduce the chance of ingrown hairs, Emagine features exclusive Middle Lifting fingers that raise flat or short hairs for easy epilation. 17-mm disc opening - the optimal radius to effectively remove hair. Our patented Glide Technology moves the tweezer discs over the skin with less irritation. Dual-opposed heads gently hold the skin taut, making epilation more comfortable. Staggered, dual-opposed heads cover greater surface area and grasp all the hair the first time. Middle lifting fingers prepare hair for removal by lifting flat or short hair, decreasing the possibility of ingrown hair. Removes hair from the root, leaving skin smooth for up to 6 weeks. Silver Ion Technology provides antimicrobial protection. Curved shape is designed to hug the curves of the body. Ergonomically engineered handle balances in your hand and is easy to hold and maneuver all over the body. Removes hair as short as 0.5 mm from the root. Gentle enough to remove delicate facial hair on the upper lip and chin.

2not so greatJun 23, 2009
By MuseofBono
I just purchased this epilator and am very disappointed. I was using the Emjoi Optima epilators for years and they were great, so I decided to try an upgrade this time around. But the Emagine does not leave my legs nearly as smooth, in fact they feel spikey, like I had shaved (which really defeats the entire purpose of using an epilator instead of shaving). The Emagine fails to get the finer hairs (as most hairs become once you start epilating) and no matter how many times I went over the same spot, I could never get the same smoothness I achieved with the Optima. Emjoi products are usually great, but this one certainly does NOT live up to all the hype. I strongly recommend the Optima instead.

4Fantastic at getting rid of those embarrassing chin hairs!!Jul 05, 2010
By marimikk
Pros: it really gets rid of the hair & less & less grows back & what does grow back is lighter & finer. It's especially fantastic for getting all those tiny chin hairs!
Cons: It takes longer to shave than a regular razor, so you have to go fairly slowly. My electric shaver was faster, but then, I had to use it every day.

I read a ton of reviews (mostly for the Braun 5270) & besides the pain a lot of women complained about, I had gotten the idea that you only had to use the epilator once every 4 to 6 weeks. This is not possible; as our hair does not all grow back at the same time. However, after the first couple of shaves, I only have to shave my legs & underarms about once a week to get the few hairs that grew in since the last shave.

I especially love using this on my chin hairs! I have spent over $1000 on electrolysis & that only partially worked. I was still plucking 20 -30+ chin hairs every morning! Now, I use the Emjoi every couple of days on 2-4 hairs! It even gets the peach fuzz.

One of the Braun reviewers (Mark Twain) has good advice for the first time users: shave (with a razor) 5-7 days before you're going to use the epilator. Then, when you're ready to use the epilator, take a bath to open the pores. Shave in the direction the hair grows and stretch the skin for the area you are shaving - very important especially under the arms & crotch areas.

The first few times it is a bit painful, but keeping the skin stretched really helps. It's like plucking your eyebrows - it hurt the first few times, but you got used to it & it stopped hurting. A couple of times the epilator caught a hunk of skin because it wasn't stretched. It doesn't hurt at all; it just scares you the first time.

Shaving under the arms is much easier than it seems it would be - again, make sure to keep the skin stretched. Also, I find the underarm hairs that grow back are much lighter, finer & fewer.

The only problem I've experienced is hairs growing back just under the skin in a leg area; I can see them, but can't reach them until they've finally grown through the upper layer. These areas are just on the outside of my calves, by my by knees & I think it might be because I always wear pants & sit all day & that area is tighter against my legs. Several reviewers remarked about making sure when bathing to scrub the shaved areas well to exfoliate & I don't always remember to do that.

I bought the Emjoi about a year ago & have been very happy with it. It has an electric cord that plugs into the bottom of the shaver & reaches over 8 feet. A nice option would be also rechargeable, but I definitely would choose electric above battery-only; you need to keep the constant power for shaving.

I'm surprised that no one (consumer companies/websites) has made an effort of comparing epilators by shaving one leg with one top brand & the other with another top brand for easy comparison's sake!

Regardless of whether you buy the Emjoi or the Braun, IT IS WORTH IT - especially for you ladies who have the embarrassing chin hairs!!

2Thought it would save time, but didntMar 07, 2012

I used to have the older pink version with just one row of tweezers, but i hated how long it took (and it started sticking and burning up the motor, just needed cleaning but thought i would upgrade). thought having two rows would help the time. Sadly, only one really works at a time. its just too wide and doesnt touch all the leg surface. I also use an epilator for my arm pits, and this one wouldnt fit well! So i tossed it and bought a newer one-row. Works great. Very happy. Love Emjoi!

4Good PurchaseJan 16, 2012

Great gadget for hair removal. It really hurt a lot the first time I used it (kind of when you get a tattoo) but after that, the pain was a lot less. You can get rid of body hair and forget about it for about two weeks. No mess while using it.
The only bad part is that sometimes the power cord gets in your way. Other than that I liked it!

5THE BEST method of hair removal!!Jan 01, 2012
By lisalayne "lisalayne"
My first time ever epilating was after purchasing this Emagine, although I have EXTENSIVE experience with all other types of hair removal; I've been getting professional waxings for the past 10 years, and I also am in the process of both laser and electrolysis treatments on my legs. Let me say that I CANNOT BELIEVE that I didn't try epilating sooner - what was I thinking not buying this thing years ago!?! This is now my very favorite method of hair removal!! The biggest downside to waxing is waiting that ~3 weeks for the hair to grow out so that you actually get your money's worth when you pay for a salon waxing (and on that note, the cost of professional waxing is a huge downfall, as well)... but with the Emagine you can epilate, and then continue to run the thing over your legs weekly/every few days to grab those few hairs that either weren't yet long enough when you first epilated or that possibly broke off during the process. It is SO great to feel like I'm "in control" of the process any time instead of waiting for my next salon waxing.
The Emgaine also amazed me with the short hairs it was able to grab - it says that it will remove hairs as short as .5mm length, and that is absolutely accurate (another big advantage over waxing!).
In regard to the pain factor: yes, epilating is very painful. However, after a ton of waxing, laser, and electrolysis treatments, it honestly doesn't phase me much. But be aware that the pain IS more agonizing than waxing, as the process is much slower - at least with waxing a large section of hair can be removed in one second... but with the epilator you can expect the consistent pain to take awhile. On that note, it took me about 2 hours in total to epilate my full legs and entire bikini area the first time; but as I mentioned, I've spent only a few minutes each week maintaining since then.
The one possible negative I do want to point out is that I have dark, coarse hair with the exception of my outer thighs, where the hair is lighter & finer. While the Emagine worked INCREDIBLY on the dark hair, I didn't get quite as astonishing results on the light hair (I think the machine may have broken off some of the lighter hairs, even when used on the Low setting). So if you have very fine hair, I'd say that the Emagine (or epilating altogether?) may not be for you.
