Note the the product description is incompleteSep 30, 2009

I haven't purchased this item. These socks are expensive but based on reports from other sources they sound like a good product. However, note that the description is incomplete. If you go the the Thunderbolt Heated Socks web site, you will find that they have two different battery sizes. If you purchase this item with the current description, you may be getting a poor deal (smaller battery socks run $180 versus $200 for the larger battery) or you may be getting the same deal as purchasing through the manufacturer.
I've been looking for heated socks for my wife. She likes to ride bike to work at least until the snow falls. What I've found are several products in the $15 - $25 range that have widely varying reports. These socks seem to be well made and designed to be used frequently. You can even purchase replacement socks if necessary and reuse the batteries and electronics.
I'm ordering a pair and will report back after a few weeks of usage.
Update: My wife has been using these socks for a couple weeks. She reports that they are very useful keeping her feet warm here in Central Wisconsin during that time (early October). I got the larger battery which has been reported to last about 6 hours. It is a little larger and heavier than expected, though once clipped to a belt it doesn't tend to cause any problems. Some people might like the lighter battery and shorter useful duration.
The company not only has replacement socks, but you can also purchase extra batteries. This might be useful for someone out all day.
After seeing and trying the actual product, I'd up the rating to 5 stars.
