4Great item for the priceMar 15, 2008
By Singing Twin Yoga Mom
I bought this since my husband and I were looking for ways to improve core strength. It has proved to be a good addition to our exercise and stretching/yoga programs. Since you spend so much time on the computer, you might as well use a chair that helps you improve your posture and strength, while preventing you from slouching.
The ball chair arrived with no instructions and missing the thin metal bar that is supposed to help keep the ball in position, but I've found it isn't necessary. The ball also needs a little inflating every couple of weeks, but again, no big deal. It's a great affordable substitute for similar chairs, such as the Evolution Chair, which retails for twice the price. I recommend using it for a short time, maybe 30 minutes daily, then gradually working up to all-day use over a 2-3 week period so your back doesn't get tired and you gradually build up core strength. All in all, a great item!

2The height is not adjustable which is a big problemJun 16, 2008
By L. Weil
I ordered this thinking that it could possibly adjust to height differences, or that it would be tall enough for me to sit on comfortably. It is very short and there is no way to adjust it. I do like sitting on it but it puts me low to the ground which I do not like. It would not be compatible with most desks unless you have a tray that can move up and down for your keyboard.

4Happy so far ...Aug 30, 2009
By A. Noblitt
I bought this as a replacement for my desk chair. Since I am at my desk and computer so much, I figured that I should make sure that I got something that would help my posture as well as finding a place for my tush. Now that I have had it for a month, I've no real complaints. Since I'm 6'3", I was concerned that the base and ball would make me too high for my desk, but the 55" ball that came with it is just right for my height. The base is not adjustable up or down, by the way. Perhaps I didn't read the description correctly, but I wasn't aware that it came with a ball, so wasted some money buying an extra one. The only other "ding" on the product is that it is priced high for what you get (a plastic mold with wheels). However, it is cheaper and better for you than a regular chair, so no real complaints. Thumbs up!

4Good base, small ball...but it works for me...or maybe not?Nov 09, 2011
By Cheryl
Let me start this review by saying that for the past 2 1/2 years I've been sitting on a 75cm ball by itself with no base as my desk chair. I loved it! At that time, I cheaped out and bought only a ball b/c I was unsure if I'd really use it as my primary chair. My large ball got a leak last week (probably from all my bouncing and having fun while working) and I needed to replace it and soon b/c I really missed it! When using just a ball, my only two complaints were 1. the ball was always getting dirty from rolling around on the floor and needed to be cleaned regularly and 2. while it was great for bouncing around to music, it was difficult to move around on and I would have to get up to do something behind me. Oh, thought of another...it always rolled away once I got up. This time I decided to try an actual ball chair because I did miss the feel of having a real chair that would move around but I didn't want a ball chair that had a back cause I had gotten so used to just a ball by itself. So I ordered this ball chair with base. The package arrived all beat up but the product inside was fine and the ball was in the middle of it and undamaged. There were no instructions, but it's pretty much a no brainer. Secure the casters into the base (yeah, not sure why I would need to lock any of these but all four lock), blow up the ball (it came with a pump but I used my own. Their pump might be useful for blowing up party balloons lol), put the ball on the base, and sit on it. I've dealt with exercise balls quite a bit, so I was not afraid to blow it up all the way. If you have never done such a thing, it would have been helpful for them to enclose some instructions on how to properly fill up the ball and provide a measuring tape with it. I will say this, this ball is not a 55cm ball. It's more the size of a large beach ball that my 5yr old would play with. I've had 55cm exercise balls that were much larger than this. Keep in mind however, that it is sitting on a base. The bottom of the base where the ball fits is 5" tall and I think that is why they say this is a 55cm ball, because you are right about at the height of a 55cm ball by itself...the base makes up for the difference. It all boils down to keyboard/desk height. For me (I'm 5' 4" by the way), I was sitting on a 75cm ball that was not fully blown up....so it was probably more like a 65cm ball height to fit just under my keyboard tray (and that was tight but I could shift my position on the ball since it wasn't on a base without problem). This ball and base allows me to sit comfortably under my keyboard tray with a little movement room but not too much. I did blow up the ball all they way and it is FIRM but I'm hoping that will work itself out a little. To compare this to a regular chair would be like sitting in a chair at the lowest possible position, which is where I have to sit at my particular desk when using my keyboard tray. I would say this ball and base sit approx. 20" from the ground which is low but it works for my application! I like not having to chase my ball when I get up but I miss the freedom of rolling around to music while working. This ball does allow for some bouncing but nothing like my old ball. Verdict is still out for me on which I like better. I guess the bonus is that if you where dresses, you could sit on this without much problem whereas a ball by itself..forget dresses! Legs had to stay apart for balance! :)

Update: after just a few hours of sitting on this ball I noticed that butt is really sore from sitting on this ball being blown up so much. I let some air out and it was better for a bit, but still felt a little too uncomfortable. So, I let some more air out. It feels great but now my legs are not quite at the 90 degree angle that they were at when the ball was fully blown up. I think I might try a 55cm ball on this base and see what happens. I know that I can't inflate it all the way...maybe there is a 45cm ball out there.... I'll update my review once I tried a different ball but right now, I'm leaning on the unhappy side of this review.

So there appears to be no 45cm ball out there. I went to Walmart and opted to purchase the $9.00 55cm ball and try it. I didn't blow it up all the way, but pretty close and it does fit the base really well. I am back to my 90 degree angle that I need to be under my keyboard tray! And since I am on a regular exercise ball, it is WAYYYY more comfortable on my tush than the ball that originally came with the base. I am also happy to know that if I should spring another leak, replacement balls would be available without any problem. So, I do recommend this base but not the ball. Figure another $10 or so for a new ball so that you will be happy with it too (unless you are really tall). I guess what I'm saying is, if you normally need a 65cm ball (which is what I should have purchased 2 years ago instead of my 75cm ball, then a 55cm and this base will work great.

4Almost the perfect office chairSep 16, 2010
By tlcinvt "Tracy"
I was having a lot of lower back problems due to sitting in a chair all day at work. While getting up and moving around more often is important, it is hard to do when you have more work than you can keep up with. This balance ball chair makes a world of a difference by helping to keep my core in motion even while I'm sitting. I originally tried a regular balance ball, but it was difficult to use without the wheels. This chair is the best of both worlds, giving the added motion of a balance ball, and the mobility of a chair with wheels. It didn't come with the bar that is shown in the photo to hold the ball in place, but it isn't required since the ball stays put in the holder without it. Some reviewers complained about the height of the chair, but as it is a balance ball, the height is easily adjustable by adding or releasing air. I am 5'4", and was able to fill it to a perfect height for my body and desk.
I would've rated this chair 5 stars, but I'm very annoyed by the locks on the wheels. I've never had a chair with locking wheels, so I don't know why they felt they were needed on this one. I accidentally close the locks with my legs several times a day, and have to keep unlocking them because of it. If it wasn't for these locks, it would be the perfect office chair.
