1This product stopped working after four days...Jan 29, 2011

I purchased this produdct off my daughter's "Christmas wish list" in October 2010. My daughter followed the instructions, and the Nuve produced a warm sensation that my daughter said was pleasant. After two days of use (aprox. 30 minutes per day spread out over two periods a day), the cooling fan on the Nuve stopped working. My daughter contacted the Nuve manufacturers, and they told her as long as the unit was not uncomfortable, she should still be able to use it without the cooling fan.

Without the fan, my daughter said the unit felt like a mild sunburn during use, but was still tolerable. My daughter asked the manufacturer about returning the product, and they told her that since she did not purchase the product, she could not register it without my credit card or Amazon account information, even though it was a gift.

Two days later (four days after Christmas), the unit completely stopped working. Amazon was amazing to work with, as usual. Even though I purchased the item early, Amazon still allowed me to return the purchase. So, the takeaway for me is, I can not be fearful about trying new products on Amazon because they stand behind what they sell.

2Poor QualityJan 06, 2011

The Dpl Nuve System (red light) is effective at relieving localized muscle pain, unfortunately, after having it for only a couple of months, it no longer works, at least not consistently anyway. Sometimes when I turn it on it does what it's supposed to do, other times, nothing happens. Increasingly, nothing happens. I haven't abused it in any way, so I can only conclude it has to do with low quality materials/manufacturing. Aside from that, there are some other things I don't like about this product. First of all, the cord is way too short, which makes it very inconvenient to use. Second, there is a rather loud fan noise that starts up after the first couple of minutes of use. I find that annoying. I purchased this system because it was a little bit less expensive than the Evis MD, but I guess you get what you pay for. I have the Evis MD Platinum Blue light and I'm very happy with that. I think I will toss out the Dpl Nuve and do what I should have done the first time---get the Evis MD Red.

3AC-DC Adapter failureFeb 22, 2011

After being diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy on my right hand, I ordered this product because I seriously needed pain relief. This product works great in providing some, though not all, relief. I have let my sister use it for arthritis in a thumb after I found that it really helps with my own arthritis. But all of the relief stopped when I tapped a table top with the 28 volt power supply. The hand held device quit working. I used a voltmeter to determine the fault lay in the transformer. I ordered this device through Amazon and cannot remember the name of the supplier. But the packing list with my order stated that it is not returnable because it is a medical device. Unless I can find a suitable twenty eight volt transformer, I now own a worthless piece of junk.

1Cheap toy for big bucksOct 24, 2011

I was very disappointed in this unit. I bought it after my physical therapist used something similar on me for pain relief. I debated buying it because it was so expensive and I was wary of the negative reviews indicated it was poorly made and broke quickly. Well, I bought it a few weeks ago, and it has now stopped working and refuses to turn on. I've only had it a few weeks. For such a relatively simple device, I'm shocked at how cheap and flimsy it is.

First: I used this every day for 15 minutes, sometimes twice a day. I am not a power user. I kept it neatly packed in its box. It never was jostled or bumped. While using it, I felt a warm sensation on my skin. I felt some pain relief but not enough to say it was the device and not the heat the device gives off. Tonight it stopped working and refuses to turn on.

What a hassle! But thanks to the reviews I had been forewarned. I kept the receipt and even registered the device with the manufacturer who offers a 1 year warranty. Registering with them was a pain, as they requested I fax a proof of purchase to a long distance number, before they would accept my registration. Their website would not allow me to register with the product's own serial number.

However, I'm not going to bother returning it to the manufacturer for repair. I'm going to return it to the company I bought it from. For the cost I paid for it, the device should work for years.

Pros:

* Nice warm heat
* Feels like it *might* be helping
* Easy to use

Cons

* Far to expensive
* Shabbily made
* Product breaks/overheats and stops working
* Registering product with manufacturer is time consuming and unfriendly. Website will not recognize product serial number.

I do not recommend it. It is a cheaply made device. Word of caution: If you buy it, make sure to register it on the manufacturers website if you want to replace or get it repaired.

3Need better technologyMay 31, 2011

At first, I loved how it worked. It did the job. But the equipment doesn't operate correctly a large portion of the time. Sometimes it just shuts off and you can't get it to turn back on. Right in the middle of a treatment, it just shuts off. It gets frustrating. It's not inexpensive. You'd think it'd work much better. Save your money and invest in something that doesn't frustrate you by quitting on you when you need it
