It can be used in three different ways: as a tea jug with the filter inside, as a storage tool with the santoprene knob sealing the stored liquid from outside influences and, removing the lid (santoprene, stainless steel), as a simple glass jug carrying any drink you like. The whole body of the jug including the handle is made of heat-resistant, ultra-light, see-through borosilicate glass interacting with the filter through multi-faceted colors and - believe it or not - giving the thrilling impression of looking into the eye of an insect. | | | Features: | |

very pretty pitcherOct 26, 2009

I chose Bodum because I wanted a glass water pitcher that would be elegant yet functional. The pitcher is great for what I needed. I do not use the plastic filter. The lid cap is difficult to keep tightly sealed with the rest of the lid seal. I have not checked if this would work better if I used the plastic filter? I just don't want my daily water to have plastic standing in it all day.

Lightweight pitcher great for teaJun 20, 2009
By J. Ensor I bought this solely for making iced green tea in. We've been using it daily for several months now and love it. It is freakishly lightweight and has no problems when pouring in boiling water and then dropping ice right in. I don't use the filter. The lid is easy to put on and take off.

Fragile paper thin glass spout - avoid!Nov 02, 2008
By Alpha Centauri The glass spout is paper thin and will break with a mere tap by the plastic filter when removing it. Happened to me. I'm getting a refund. Cheap piece of crapola.
